Candidates for a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt are technically oriented individuals held in high regard by their peers. They are typically actively involved in the process of organizational improvement. Candidates may come from a wide range of roles and do not need to be statisticians or engineers. As part of their training, Black Belts will learn the more advanced tools and techniques that are not necessarily needed on the majority of root cause analysis projects. But when more technical projects or tools are needed, the black belt is there to drive success.. Six Sigma Black Belts are highly prized employees and are often recruited for key management positions elsewhere in the company. After Six Sigma has been in place for three or more years, former Six Sigma Black Belts and Six Sigma Green Belts populate a sufficient number of key positions in the organization to change the organization’s DNA.
